Dog Friendly Restaurants In San Francisco

Dog-Friendly_Restaurants_in_San_FranciscoIn a city as cosmopolitan as San Francisco, you expect to find fabulous restaurants of every flavor. And considering how San Franciscans love their dogs, it’s no surprise that many restaurants are dog-friendly. The following is a smattering of some of the City’s most popular dog-appropriate venues.

For this list, we looked at ratings from Google (stars), BringFido.com (bones) and Zagat. Zagat rates three things: food, décor and service, so you’ll see three numbers, in that order (maximum score for each is 30).

Bloodhound

1145 Folsom Street

4.2 stars (Google)

Zagat: 24/23/24

Zagat says “attentive bartenders proffer perfectly executed cocktails and specialty beers at this down-to-earth SoMa bar that takes its drinks seriously.”

El Rio

3158 Mission Street

4.2 stars (Google)

Zagat: 24/19/22

The owner says, “We feel it's irresponsible of us to have dogs (who we do love) come in when the club is packed. The dogs get stepped on and kicked and we feel horrible for them. You are welcome to bring your pooch in any other time.” Reviewers love the great prices, good service, good selection of drinks and great patio sections. Zagat says, “It’s always a party at this super-gay-friendly Mission standby.”

Mission Rock Resort

817 Terry A Francois Blvd.

4.3 stars (Google)

Zagat: 20/23/19

Reviewers say their happy hour dollar oyster (served until 7 pm) is a terrific deal. They especially like the outdoor seating, nice views of the bay and easy parking. Zagat says “after a splashy two-million dollar renovation, this old-time waterfront bar and grill near Mission Bay lures the crowds ... the most coveted seats are on the decks where you can knock back a Sailor’s Shipwrecked Punch or frozen daiquiri.”

Nopa

560 Divisadero Street

4.4 stars (Google)

Zagat: 27/23/24

Reviewers love the famous custard French toast, grass fed hamburger, must-get pork chop and desserts. They love that it's open late night but warn you can always expect a wait.

Park Chalet Garden Restaurant

1000 Great Hwy

5 bones, BringFido.com

One of the best dog-friendly restaurants in the City, this venue has a huge lawn and tables out back.

Place Pigalle

520 Hayes Street

4.1 stars (Google)

5 bones

Zagat: 26.23.27

Reviewers say this comfortable lounge has a "good craft beer selection and bartenders that are really helpful when you're not sure what to choose." Zagat says “this Hayes Valley bar (rated No. 1 for Service in the San Francisco Nightlife Survey) is a rare “non-yuppified” hangout.

Tartine bakery

600 Guerrero Street

4.4 stars (Google)

Zagat: 27/16/18

Zagat: 24/18/22

Waterbar

399 The Embarcadero

4.2 stars (Google)

Zagat: 24/27/24

Reviewers say there's a nice area to start with a cocktail if your table is not ready yet and it’s a pretty solid spot to watch the Bay Lights when you feel like splurging. Zagat likes the "seafood magnificence" and spectacular water views.

But how can you top Bring Your Dog to Dinner Mondays?!

Zazie

Zagat: 25/21/22

Every Monday, Zazie invites you and your pup to dine on their heated garden patio (weather permitting) and “in honor of our Cole Valley canines, take $10 off any bottle of wine on our list when you bring your furry friend.”  Salud.
