Extend Your Summer By Eliminating Yard Work

Extend Your Summer By Eliminating Yard Work http://www.heavenlygreens.com/blog/extend-your-summer-by-eliminating-yard-work @heavenlygreensWhy would anybody possibly want to eliminate yard work? You get a chance to spend time outdoors and get some exercise – week in and week out, all summer long. You get a stirring sense of accomplishment when you admire your handiwork -- as you’re backing out of the driveway on your way to work Monday morning. You get a beautiful landscape that is the envy of the neighborhood.

OK, you’re reading this and saying to yourself, “Are you nuts?!” If only you really could eliminate yard work, you’d be able to actually enjoy your surroundings in the way we dream of spending our summers. Playing games on the grass with the kids. Tossing a ball for the dog. Entertaining friends in the backyard or around the pool. Now we’re talking.

Endless bouts of fertilizing, mowing, edging, raking, spraying to eliminate pests and weeds and conducting futile attempts to fill in those bare spots created by romping kids and dogs can turn summer into pure drudgery. The next thing you know, summer’s gone. You missed it, again. Didn’t your Mom teach you that all work and no play makes you dull?

Installing artificial turf can transform your summer dreams into reality.

Instead of sharpening your mower for yet another summer saturated with yard work, consider all the ways you could fulfill your summer dreams:

  • Sure, mowing and raking are good exercise. But what would you rather be doing? Tennis, swimming, golf, biking, hiking, walking your dog and just horsing around with the kids are all forms of exercise. And spending time with family and friends has spiritual value that transcends yard work, no matter how much you love your lawn.
  • Maybe you’d rather be out on your boat. Or taking a trip to the beach. Or lazing around the backyard doing absolutely nothing except soaking up some nice, warm rays and savoring a cold beverage.
  • How long have you been promising to invite people over for a relaxing afternoon and dinner on the patio? Fire up that barbeque, and prepare to take charge of those steaks.
  • Wiggle your toes in the grass, thrilling to the fact that you aren’t knocking yourself out trying to maintain that lawn at exactly the right length and the right color green (or any shade of green, given our water restrictions).
  • Instead of investing in chemicals and gas for your mower, you could invest in a new croquet set. A badminton or volleyball net. Or a new chaise longue with a colorful, plump cushion just right for a backyard summer snooze.
  • You could help coach your daughter’s softball team, or at least make more of her games. And you could get in more catching practice right in your own yard.
  • When you eliminate yard work, you can hold a yard sale instead – get rid of that environmentally-unfriendly mower and the gas and oil cans that go with it. You’re going green, and you now have the perennially gorgeous emerald lawn to prove it.

So – realistically now -- why would you want to eliminate yard work?

To paraphrase a popular saying, nobody ever died wanting their tombstone to read, “I wish I could have spent more time and money maintaining my grass.” However, there are probably a lot of people out there who look back on their lives and wish they had done something to eliminate yard work and its insidious encroachment on their precious personal time.

You can have it all. By installing artificial grass, you’ll not only have a landscape that is the envy of the neighborhood, you’ll have an extended summer lifestyle your neighbors will envy even more.
