Artificial Turf: It's Not Just For Yards Anymore

AT-Not-For-Just-Yards-Blog].jpgWhen you think of artificial turf, you probably picture how you could use it to replace your lawn or green up your overall landscaping. Who doesn’t want reliably gorgeous, lush grass? And who actually likes all the maintenance (and expense) associated with natural grass? But did you know today’s artificial turf can do more? It’s not just for yards anymore.

Give new meaning to the word “play”

What about your very own putting green, or bocce ball court? Every golfer secretly yearns for their own personal putting green. With artificial turf, you can custom design the putting green of your dreams into a backyard reality. The size, the shape, the terrain – you can even specify the type of “grass” you want. Add an apron. Or a tee box. Or bunkers. (Yeah, you’d better practice those sand shots, too.)

Bocce has soared in popularity because it’s fun, and the whole family can play. Your whole family could be playing together, if you had a court in your backyard. Well, not the dog. But we have a special artificial grass for him, too. Fake grass for bocce courts even comes in colors.

Floor other living spaces with grass

Artificial turf can cover any flat surface. This means you can upgrade that hot concrete patio with pretty, barefoot-friendly faux grass. Or cover your upper-floor balcony. Or go even higher, by planting fake grass on your rooftop. What a great way to turn that sunny space into usable space. Add a few containers of flowers or veggies, an umbrella and lounge, and you’ll never want to leave home.

Take the look indoors, by carpeting your sun room or the kids’ room with fun, fluffy artificial grass. Spread it wall to wall, or create an area rug. It doesn’t even have to be a rectangle, because you can cut synthetic grass to any shape you want. You can even grow artificial grass in your basement – it doesn’t care if there’s no direct sun, and it won’t mold, either. Your teens can have the coolest party room ever.

Back outside, consider your driveway – another hot, boring expanse of concrete or asphalt. Then picture this: a beautiful, interesting, and fully functional driveway constructed of porous pavers intermingled with artificial turf. The upgrade to your home’s curb appeal would be incalculable, plus a driveway that drains better benefits the environment, too. You are one savvy homeowner.

And who says artificial turf is only for floors?

You can’t grow natural grass anywhere except on the ground. Not over your patio, or balcony. Certainly not indoors. Live grass needs lots of sunlight, water, and nutrients from the soil in order to grow. And you’d never consider driving on it, day after day. But artificial turf has one more advantage that makes it amazingly versatile: it is equally at home on vertical or rounded surfaces as it is underfoot.

So let’s think about that. You could cover a bench, or the wall around your pool or garden. Cover the dog house, or your kids’ playhouse. Cover some flowerpots. Create faux grass street numbers for your house. Or cut out shapes to dress up your interior walls. Heck, you could put grass on your ceiling, if you were so inclined.

When it comes to artificial turf, there’s a shade of green for every location in or around your yard, in and around your home’s interior. Or your business, for that matter. The only thing holding you back is your imagination. So what could you do next with artificial turf?
