Silicon Valley Humane Society, achieved a Gold Level for LEED certification from the US Green Building Council in partnership with Heavenly Greens and FieldTurf
Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) is California’s first regional Animal Community Center that will change the way you think about an animal shelter. Heavenly Greens artificial pet turf contributed this center becoming one of the first environmentally certified “Green” Animal Community Centers in the United States. HSSV Animal Community Center also earned the coveted Gold level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
“We achieved our Gold LEED certification by reducing our electricity demands and water consumption through a variety of conservation technologies and products while providing state-of-the-art animal care,” said Carol Novello, HSSV’s president.
The Silicon Valley Humane Society water savings metrics are impressive. On average 1000 sq. ft. uses ~56,000 gallons of water per year. This facility has ~30,000 sq. ft. x 56,000 = 1,680,000 gallons of water saving a year.
